Exploring Essential Oil Chemistry
Understanding essential oil chemistry helps one to create effective blends, as well as, have a better understanding of their properties.
My first real introduction to Essential Oil Chemistry was through Rosemary Caddy's Essential Oils in Colour Chemistry Workshops at the end of 1999, and in 2001 I purchased the license to teach those workshops. Since that time I have explored the world of Essential Oil Chemistry further through books and additional classes. The workshop that I am offering here has its roots in Rosemary Caddy's Essential Oils in Colour workshops. Probably because they were my first proper introduction to the world of essential oil chemistry, her color coding for the different biochemical families is the one that has stuck with me. I find that the visuals you get from the color wheel make it very easy to both identify and to grasp the concepts, particularly if you are new to chemistry.
I start the workshop with my own introduction to Essential Oil Chemistry, as well as the Caddy Color wheels. Chapters One - Three are based on Rosemary Caddy's Essential Oils in Color Chemistry Workshop. While in Chapter Four I expand further on this.
